Our Story!

It would be considered somewhat of a rom-com or fairy tale if we were a couple.



We spent hours trying to find the right online quote to describe the concept of “being in front of each other all along”. Everything we found sounded too corny, and we were one vote short of using Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors” lyrics to describe our circumstance. But really ... that is what happened with us, the Dhalia team. We were working together all along, none of us realizing we had the same goals, ambitions and dreams.

The Dhalia team officially founded in June 2018. On a regular summer afternoon, we sat together after a long day of work trying to unwind and mentally prepare for the next day ahead of us. These after-work outings were common, though not as frequent as we’d like, but we fully enjoyed getting to spend quality non-work hours in each others’ company.

None of us can remember how the topic of events and decor came up that day, but we vividly remember the both of us oohing and aahing at the work of some of our favorite crafters and designers on Instagram and Pinterest. We must have sat together for at least 3 hours that evening, whiling the evening away by sharing saved screenshots or favorite videos we each had about one design topic to the next. From St. Patrick’s Day crafty hat ideas, to full-scale large event strategy and coordination, we shared it all. Our interests and energy were equal, we were bubbling with enthusiasm and happy to share with like-minded individuals.

We had known each other for 3 years at this point. Each of us paying loose but noted attention to the work the other was doing. Melissa, had been working in the catering and hospitality industry on weekends and had a depth of insight on managing large scale elegant events. Deliece, had been powering through several corporate events and conventions per year, bringing in teams and executives from all over the world to collaborate, team build and talk strategy over tightly packed schedules and carefully planned itineraries!

The pieces fit together easily and quickly. We’d known each other long enough to know that we liked each other. We’d worked with each other long enough to know how each other worked and that we could work together. The final piece was our mutual love of event planning, decor and event design! It was a no-brainer! Dhalia Events needed to be formed and that’s exactly what we did!

We are so excited to bring our client work thus far into the lime light in hopes that we can turn our passion and drive into a flourishing company that helps relieve our clients of the headaches of planning while giving them the confidence that they end up with an event or decor that is not only stunning and memorable but entirely personalized!
